Mint & Cream: I'm Ready For Spring

Lace Blouse: c/o PB&J Boutique, Cardigan: JCrew (similar), Pants: Old Navy, Boots: Ross

In my last post I mentioned how much I was in love with a lace top that PB&J Boutique sent me...well, here it is!  It makes me feel a little like a flower child, which I am totally fine with.  Random little fact: my Dad was quite the hippie back in his younger years!  I love the way this top looks with a pair of blue jeans, but I wanted to try something different for this outfit post.  I added a pair of cream-colored polka dot pants and a minty green cardigan.  The soft colors in this outfit totally remind me of Spring, even though I am surrounded by snow!

PB&J Boutique has so many pretty blouses and other great clothing, you should definitely check them out.  They are giving away a bracelet in my Blog Anniversary Giveaway, so be sure to enter!

The giveaway will run through February 6th and is only open to those with a U.S. shipping address (sorry international readers...I will try to have a giveaway for you soon!).  Just enter using the Rafflecopter widgets below, with the exception of the Shabby Apple giveaway...just follow the directions for that one!

Illusions

Dress: c/o SheInside, Shoes: Target, Necklace: F21 (similar here and here), Bracelets: Kohls, Clutch: Sephora

Who doesn't love wearing clothing that makes their body look better than it actually is?  This SheInside illusion dress is designed with a flattering hourglass silhouette, which creates the appearance of a slim physique.  I love that the black sides of the dress make me look thinner, but let's also talk about the zippered back...I think that little detail gives the dress so much character!  The best part was that the dress didn't have to be skin tight to get the effect (I like my clothes fitted, but still comfortable).

Do you have any tips or tricks for dressing to flatter your body type?

Manicure Monday: Chevron Tips Tutorial with Julep

Julep invited me to be a part of their Beauty Resolution Campaign, where I was supposed to show how complimentary colors can work well together.  The colors they sent me to play with were a dark red creme (Lucy) and a dark green creme (Diane).  I was pretty worried at first, because the colors were both so dark.  I wouldn't recommend trying the chevron tips with colors this dark, because it's a little hard to see the lines (except in direct light).

These two complementary colors really do go well together and would be a great option for a vampy Christmas manicure.  I don't think these colors could only be worn at Christmas though...they are deep enough that they could work together anytime in the Fall or Winter without looking too "Christmas-y".  If I wore the two of these together again I would probably just do an accent nail, or maybe some subtle polka dots.

Have you tried out the Julep Maven subscription yet?  I must say that I'm a huge fan of getting new nail polishes delivered to me each month! You can try out Julep Maven for only 1 penny by using the promo code JULEPVIP at checkout.  You can cancel at anytime, so I highly recommend trying it out!

Also, I just want to say THANK YOU to all of you who voted for my blog...I made it into the Top 25 Fashion and Beauty Mom Blogs on Circle of Moms!  It is such an honor to be on that list with so many other amazing women.  I couldn't have done it without your help!

Sunday Style: Brighten up the Winter

Coat: c/o Lulu's, Jeans: Old Navy, Tee: Old Navy, Boots: Target, Scarf: Tulle

I know I have been MIA this past week, but I have a good reason...I was at the Altitude Design Summit blogging conference!  I was able to attend for the first time this year, thanks to my friend Jason over at Passionfruit Ads.  It was such a great learning experience and I will tell you all about it soon, but right now it's time for Sunday Style! I've always been scared of color when it comes to jackets and coats.  Every coat I have previously owned has been black, brown, or cream...I think I might have had a burgandy coat once, but that is as bold as I was willing to go.  Well, I decided it was time to push myself outside of that comfort zone and I am SO glad I did!  This fuschia jacket from Lulus.com is my new favorite!  The color just makes me happy, especially when I am surrounded by snow...am I the only one that is ready for this white stuff to go away?!

Last week I received a great response to the idea of featuring my favorite outfits from the previous week's link-up.  So, starting next week I will be bringing back the features for good!  I like showing off your outfits and I think it gives everyone more of an incentive to link up.  If you are wanting to have your outfit featured, make sure your photos are nice and clear.  I would also love if they were at least 640 px wide, so we can see them in detail!  So, on to the linky party...Here are the rules:

1. Link up to a specific outfit post, not your main blog page.
2. Grab a button and add it to your post (a text link is also fine).
3. Comment on this post and at least one other post...the whole point is to visit each other.
4. Follow my blog, so you can be reminded to link up next time!

PLANE PRETTY

I am also excited to be participating in a great link party called the Mama Style Link Up!  Becoming a mom definitely had a HUGE impact on the way I dressed.  That is why I originally started this blog...as motivation to get out of the sweatpants and start dressing cute again!  I think the most important thing is to dress well, while still being COMFORTABLE.  I'm not saying I don't wear heels every now and then, but my go-to "Mommy Outfit" is a pair of jeans, boots and a comfy sweater (or in this case jacket).  Make sure to head on over to the Mama Style link up and check out all the other lovely Moms who have linked up :)

Sunday Style: Show Me Those Outfits!

Happy Sunday!  I'm currently flying all over the United States, so once again I'm featuring some of my favorite outfits that were linked up last week.  It's so hard narrowing it down to just a few, but here are four outfits that I loved:

Kenye from Glow Kouture

Yulissa from Fashioddict

Rachel from Rachel the Hat

Don't you just love these outfits?  I think I might make these Sunday Style features a regular thing...what do you think? Yes? No? Let me know!

Ok, now show me what you have been wearing! Here are the rules:
1. Link up to a specific outfit post, not your main blog page.
2. Grab a button and add it to your post (a text link is also fine).
3. Comment on this post and at least one other post...the whole point is to visit each other!

Resolutions & my January Sponsor Spotlight

Well folks, it's January...a.k.a. the month where we have the opportunity to give ourselves a "fresh start" and make some positive changes in our lives.  While I don't put a lot of focus on "New Year's Resolutions", I think it's always a good idea to be setting realistic goals for myself and my family.  On the list this year: be a better mom, travel more (for fun, not just work), become more organized, make it a priority to go on more dates with Emery, make exercise a part of my life, have fun, and eat lots of delicious food.  Please note that I didn't say healthy food.  I'm sorry, I LOVE greasy and tasty food...I can't help it!  Ok, I will try to eat a little healthier.

I asked my lovely sponsors to share their goals for the new year and this is what they had to say:

"Improve My Sites. I want to concentrate on making them even more interesting and informative than ever before. That will mean listening to the people who visit them more closely and discovering just what it is that interests them and what they want to know.  Get More Organized to Become More Responsible.  Go Back to School and Study Photography." ~ Hairspiration

"This year I am resolving to focus more on others by finding creative and inexpensive ways to serve others. I am creating a service budget each month and am super excited about the plans I have for doing random acts of kindness. And oh how I'd just love for you to join me!" ~ This Little Blonde

"I have always made New Year's Resolutions, but like so many, after a few weeks or a month down the road, those committments start to wane, and the guilty feelings fly.  So this year, I am thinking of it just as making each day as good or better than the day before.  It's a simple way to think about it, but it takes the pressure off, and I feel I will accomplish a lot more this year in all the aspects I want: my health, my business, relationships, my faith." ~ Arcadian Designs

"I'm afraid I haven't made any new year's resolutions this year (except the obligatory - lose a few pounds) - they're too easily broken. Or maybe it has something to do with not working well when I feel boxed in. But goals leave me free to soar, so those I have in abundance!" ~ Jackie with Lilla Rose

"This year for me is all about finding balance. I feel life can be so busy always wanting to sew that sometimes thats all I do. This year I would really like to start to find more time to exercise, read, hang out with hubs and enjoy the outdoors!" ~ Kelsey Bang

Please go check out each of these lovely ladies, because they are super talented and I'm sure you will discover a new blog or shop that you will love!

Jessica Cosmetics: "It's a Girl Thing" Collection

I know it's not Monday, but I got a little behind and still wanted to share this gorgeous new collection from Jessica Cosmetics!  There are 6 colors in the Spring 2013 "It's a Girl Thing" collection.

Outdoors
Indoors
The first color is "Ruby Empress" (Alexis).  It's a red creme that leans a little to the orange side, with with a faint shimmer.

Outside
Inside
The second color is "Sun-Kissed Beauty" (Alia).  This is an orange creme, with a slight shimmer.  At first I thought that Ruby Empress and Sun-Kissed Beauty were really similar, but once they are painted on the nails they look different.

Outside
Inside
The third color is "Smitten Kitten" (Amira).  If I had to describe this color in one word it would be "Barbie"!  It's totally the same color as my daughter's Barbie car and I LOVE it!  It's the perfect girlie pink creme, with a slight shimmer.  I think it would look great on any skin tone!

Outside
Inside
New favorite color alert! "New Kid in Town" (Ava) is the most beautiful pastel shade of purple!  I am absolutely IN LOVE with this lavender creme.  The slight sparkle makes it just perfect!

Outside
Inside

The fourth color is "True Blue" (Sophia).  As you can tell from the pictures it looks different in various types of lighting.  Outside it is a robin's egg blue, but inside it is more of a periwinkle color.  Like the others, it has the slightest shimmer in the creme base.

Outside
Inside
The last color in this collection is "Sterling Queen" (Nadia).  This is a really lovely grey/silver shimmer.  This was easily the most shimmery color in the collection.

I really love the pastel colors in this collection.  My favorites would have to be "New Kid in Town" and "Smitten Kitten".  The formula on each of these was great and they were all opaque in 2 coats.

You can find the "It's a Girl Thing" collection at jessicacosmetics.com and at salons and spas toward the end of January.  Each bottle retails for $7.50.
