My go-to Fall outfit always seems to be a plaid flannel shirt with a pair of jeans.  This black and white shirt from American Eagle Outfitters was begging for me to take it home.  One can never have too many flannel shirts, am I right?

A Letter to Fall.

Dearest Fall,

Your first day was the 23rd and it appears as if you forgot to show up on time.  Maybe you just like to be fashionably late, which I totally understand...but please try to expedite your arrival.  I have several new sweaters that I'd really like to wear, such as this super cozy cardigan from Bohme.  All I want to do is snuggle up in my oversize knit wrap and drink some hot chocolate, but that's not very appealing when it's 90 degrees outside. 

You know you're my favorite and I'm really counting on you, so please don't let me down.  Hope to see you soon!

P.S. My 5 year old son (who was kind enough to take these photos) would also like you to hurry up, because he wants to jump in a big pile of leaves.

My State Pride and a Cute Camera Strap.

To be completely honest, this is a pretty accurate depiction of what I wear on a daily basis.  A pair of jeans, a t-shirt and some sandals.  It's comfy and easy to throw on when I'm rushing to get the kids to school in the morning (which is every day, because I am NOT a morning person).  The Home. T is one of my all time favorites tees...and I'm not just saying that.  If I were to ask my husband which shirt I wear the most he would probably say "that one Oregon shirt".  I can't help it.  It's the most comfortable shirt I own.  Even after I've washed it a million times, it looks and feels as great as it did on day one.  The Home. T just came out with this new design and I'm happy to report that it's the same great quality as the original (see my original post here)!  There is one other great thing about these shirts: a portion of the proceeds is donated to Multiple Sclerosis research...so show off your state pride, while supporting a great cause!

Another item I'm obsessed with lately is this cute tribal print iMo camera strap!  For the longest time I only had my Canon strap, which works perfectly fine...but it's so much fun to make my camera more personalized!  They have so many different styles to choose from and the straps are very well made, which is obviously super important when it comes to carrying around a pricey camera.  Plus, it's less expensive than similar items I've seen!  If you are looking for cute camera accessories, I definitely recommend checking them out!

Oh Fall, you are right around the corner and I couldn't be more excited! I've said it before and I'll say it again...Autumn is the best time of year.  I'm not a big fan of the heat and I'm not a big fan of the cold, but the crisp Fall air is simply perfection.  

One of my favorite things about the cooler weather is being able to wear sweaters and jackets again.  I found this leopard print cardigan at H&M recently and just had to pick it up!  It doesn't appear to be online (they only have the sweater version), but I highly recommend heading over to your local H&M to snatch one up before they are gone!

I have a feeling leopard print is going to be on trend again this Fall, but I think it's important to keep it classy...no one wants to look like a hooker (unless you are a hooker I guess).  My tip is to pair a pop of leopard with solid, neutral colors and you can't really go wrong!

Exploring Alaska: Seward Cruise & Exit Glacier.

The one thing I really wanted to do while we were in Alaska was take a wildlife cruise, so we headed down to the town of Seward. We decided to take a half day cruise with a company called Major Marine. The crew was super nice, but the weather was so crappy the whole time and there wasn't an abundance of sea life to be found...it really put a damper on the whole thing. Even though it was pouring down rain, we tried to make the best of the situation and enjoy the beautiful Alaskan scenery.

On the bright side...with rain comes rainbows!

And we did get to see a few bald eagles, some sea lions and a sea otter!  Sea otters are my favorite animal, so I was super excited to see one up close and personal!

After our cruise we made a stop at Exit Glacier and hiked up to it. Usually you can hike right to the edge of the glacier and touch it, but I guess it was too dangerous while we were there, so it was roped off (probably due to all the rain). We were able to get really close though and it was definitely worth it!

Even with the disappointing weather, we had a great time in Alaska and I can't wait to go back!  It truly has a unique beauty that can't be accurately portrayed in pictures...you really have to see it to understand how gorgeous Alaska is!

Now it's time to start planning our next vacation...where should we go?  Any suggestions?

Exploring Alaska: Hatcher's Pass & Independence Mine.

The second part of our Alaskan adventure took us into the beautiful Talkeetna mountains, on a scenic drive through Hatcher's Pass.  Even on a rainy day, this place was absolutely stunning.  Starting from Anchorage, the scenic drive took us half of a day, but we did take plenty of stops to take in all of our beautiful surroundings.

My favorite part was getting to stop at Independence Mine.  It was interesting to read about the gold mine's history and the people who worked there.  1941 was it's peak year, with 204 men employed and nearly 35,000 ounces of gold recovered. Unfortunately, World War II caused the mine to be shut down in 1943, due to a wartime ban on gold mining.

Sadly, we didn't find any gold and strike it rich...maybe next time!

Isn't Alaska just the prettiest?!
