Happy Halloween!

It's finally here...my favorite day of the year!  I can't wait to go trick-or-treating with my kids tonight, then eat some treats and watch a couple scary movies (once the kids are in bed, of course)!  I shared my family's past Halloween costumes in yesterday's blog post and today I'm so excited to show you these pictures of our BATMAN costumes this year...we decided to dress up as Batman, Robin, Poison Ivy and Bane!  The photos were taken by the insanely talented Alex Wright Photography and I couldn't be happier with they way they turned out.  She was able to find the perfect location for our photo shoot: an empty parking garage in downtown Provo!

Alex was surprisingly able to get my little ones to listen to her the whole time and even though we felt somewhat awkward posing in our costumes, she made us feel really comfortable and we had a great time!  If you are in Utah I highly recommend contacting Alex for any photos you need taken.  She has great prices for family sessions, senior pictures, engagement/wedding photography and more!  You can find more information on her website and make sure you like her Facebook page to see more of her amazing work.  Seriously, this lady is crazy talented...but enough of my rambling, here are the costumes:

Fun, right?  I made all of the costumes myself, with the exception of Robin.  I don't really know how to sew, so hot glue and fabric adhesive became my new best friends.  Attaching the leaves to my costume was definitely the most time-consuming. Although it took forever, it's just so much fun trying to be creative and come up with costumes from scratch!

I hope you all have a safe and happy Halloween!

Family Halloween Costumes

Today I have something to admit to the world: we are that cheesy family who dresses up together for Halloween.  Halloween has been my favorite holiday for as long as I can remember (ok, it's possibly tied with Christmas). Having kids has been the best thing ever, because it actually gives me an excuse to put on a costume and go trick-or-treating!

It all started back in 2009 when we I decided our family would dress up as The Flintstones:

The next year we went as characters from Toy Story:

Then we were a Little Mermaid family:

And last year we went as the Avengers:

Tomorrow will be our 5th year dressing up as a family and I can't wait to share our costumes with you all! We had a little photo shoot with the incredibly talented Alex Wright Photography and the pictures turned out amazing...so please come back tomorrow to check them out!

Do you still dress up for Halloween?

Burgundy Leather

Faux Leather Skirt: c/o Lulu's, Turtleneck: Dillards: Similar here and here , Tights: Target, Bag: Kate Spade, Shoes: Target, Red Bracelet: Kohls, Gold Bracelet: c/o Sira Mara, Earrings: Target

Remember that one time I was sharing my favorite ways to wear leather?  I don't know how this past week went by so fast!  But I do have one more leather look to show you today and it's one of my favorite ways to wear this great trend...leather skirts! I used to only own a black faux leather skirt, but when I saw this burgundy skirt on Lulus.com I knew it was time to try out another color.  I plan on wearing this skirt many different ways, because the color really goes with so much in my closet, but for today I stuck will all black (and a little pop of leopard).  Can I just tell you how much I love turtlenecks?  I used to hate them, cause I thought they made my face look super round...but I just feel like they are so classy looking.  What do you think about turtlenecks...classy or too old lady-ish?

P.S. I get to go visit the spa at Nima (National Institute of Medical Aesthetics) tomorrow! Since they are a school, they offer beauty services at low prices...I can't wait to get pampered and see all they have to offer!

Pumpkin Patch.

Leather Jacket: Kohls, Jeans: Old Navy, Basic Tee: DownEast, Scarf: H&M, Shoes: Franco Sarto (old), Bag: Rebecca Minkoff

One of my favorite family traditions is going to the pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins.  Ever since I was a little girl I've loved taking a hayride out to the field and searching for the perfect pumpkin to carve for Halloween.  I hope that my kids will also remember it as one of their favorite Fall activities while growing up!  I'm starting to wonder if pumpkin patches are more of a Pacific Northwest thing.  They aren't as big of a deal here in Utah and a lot of other places.  On my last work trip, one of the pilots asked me what a pumpkin patch was...are you kidding me?! Haven't people at least seen "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"?!  I guess not, cause he had no clue.

We went to Jaker's Jack-o-lanterns in Springville, Utah.  It's the only place remotely close to us that doesn't charge an admission fee, which was really nice...a lot of the other places nearby are ridiculously expensive!  Here are some photos from our trip to the pumpkin patch (get ready for picture overload)...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Leather Leggings and Eyelashes (And a great deal too!)

Leggings: c/o Warehouse, Printed Blouse: Kohls, White Blazer: c/o SheInside, Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target, Shoes: Target, Necklace: old

I promised you more of my favorite Fall trend (leather), so here is an outfit with my favorite faux leather leggings.  I love pairing simple black leggings with a fun print on top!  Most people wouldn't consider wearing leather to work, since it's normally a bit too edgy for the office. However, with the addition of a blazer, I totally think this is the perfect work outfit!  Since I'm a flight attendant, I don't have to worry about office attire...although sometimes I wish I got the chance to dress up for work everyday!

Ok you guys, I think I might have a new addiction...

I recently had the opportunity to go check out the Dallas Roberts Salon in West Jordan and I finally caved in to peer pressure and got some eyelash extensions!  I will admit that I was a little nervous at first.  The thought of glue near my eyes (which are really sensitive to start off with) was a bit nerve-wracking.  But as soon as I walked into the salon I was greeted by a super friendly staff and they instantly made me feel more comfortable!  The beautiful and talented Mandy applied my eyelashes...she was seriously the sweetest and did a wonderful job!

I love that I can wake up in the morning and automatically feel (kind of) pretty.  It's so nice not having to put on any mascara!  I can just put on my foundation and head out the door...seriously, it's the best.  I think I'm hooked!  The only problem is that I'll have to find some time to go in and get them filled every couple weeks.  Good thing Emery loves them too, haha!  Anyway, if you are looking to get some eyelash extensions, I highly recommend Mandy at Dallas Roberts Salon.  They also perform other salon services, such as hair coloring, perms and makeup artistry.  Dallas Roberts is offering each of you lovely readers
$20 off any service!
Just mention my blog, Plane Pretty, when you call and book your appointment from now until October 31st.  This is such a great deal and you definitely won't be disappointed!
