Manicure Monday: Summer Stripes with Zoya Pixie Dust

I know it's been a while since I've done a Manicure Monday post, but today I get to show you the Zoya Pixie Dust Fall 2013 collection!  These six nail polish shades are a textured matte finish, that sparkle just like sugar.  It's really hard to capture the texture in photos, but it's a super fun look and the polish lasts a really long time.

I wanted to do a simple striped manicure to show off a few of the colors.  I started off with a coat of Dhara (orange), then applied a coat of Arabella (fuschia), followed by a coat of Carter (purple).  These are my favorite three colors in the collection, but the other three are also pretty.  To be honest, I wasn't a big fan of the textured nails at first...but they have grown on me!

I'm doing my first ever Instagram giveaway and I'm giving away all six shades in this collection, so make sure to go check it out if you use Instagram!

Zoya Pixie Dust retails for $9 each and can be purchased on Zoya.com.

Sunday Style Link-Up: A Vintage Look

I've always had a thing for vintage style.  Sometimes I wish that I lived back in the 50s or 60s...besides the fact that I would make a horrible housewife!  Last week's style link-up had a few vintage looks that I absolutely adored:

Suzanne Carillo Style Files
Just Dawnelle
Style Honestly
Popcosmo
Seriously, someone please transport me back in time about five decades...If you can hook me up with Don Draper that would also be a bonus (if you don't watch Mad Men, you should probably get on that).

Ok, time to see what you are wearing this week!  As always, here are the rules:

1. Add the link to your specific outfit post, not your main blog page.
2. Grab a button and add it to your post (a text link is also fine). Note: if you don't link back to me, I can't feature you!
3. Comment on this post and someone else's post...the whole point is to visit each other.
4. Follow my blog, so you can be reminded to link up next time!

One Blazer, Three Ways: Day Three

Blazer: c/o Wallis, Chevron Top: c/o Lulus (similar), Skirt: Kohls (similar here and here), Shoes: Target (similar), Bracelets: Kohls, Clutch: Sephora, Lipstick: MAC Ruby Woo

This is the third outfit I put together with my black blazer (you can see the other posts here and here).  Today I decided to wear the blazer over a chevron top, with a faux leather skirt and some simple black pumps.  It's a lot dressier than the other two outfits, but I really like it!  I love wearing black and white together...it has such a sophisticated and classic feel.

Now that you've seen all three outfits, which one is your favorite?  What is your favorite way to wear a blazer?

One Blazer, Three Ways: Day Two

Plane Pretty, Fashion Blog
Blazer: c/o Wallis, Striped Tee: Old Navy, Jeans: Old Navy, Shoes: Target (similar), Necklace: Forever 21 (similar), Bag: Kohls (similar), Stud Bracelet: c/o HelloFab, Gold Spike Bracelet: c/o SiraMara

Yesterday I shared one of my favorite ways to wear my black Wallis blazer (with a maxi dress) and today I'm going to share another great option.  Pairing a blazer with jeans is one of my favorite combinations of all!  It's perfect, because it's such a versatile outfit.  You could wear this to work, school, dinner, a party...really just about anywhere!  You could even swap out the heels for flats, if you want some added comfort.

P.S. This is probably about as daring as I have gotten with the mixing prints trend...and I'm not even sure that the striped shirt and leopard shoes count!

I can't wait to share my third blazer look with you tomorrow, so make sure to come back and check it out!

One Blazer, Three Ways: Day One

Blazer: c/o Wallis, Maxi Dress: Kohls (similar), Sandals: c/o Dansko, Bag: boutique (similar), Necklace: Heather Belle (similar), Earrings: Target, Bracelet: c/o Sira Mara

There are some pieces of clothing that are absolutely essential to have in your closet.  I honestly think that this black Wallis blazer is one of them, because it can be worn with so many other items in my closet!  For the next couple days I will be posting outfits that showcase my favorite ways to wear a black blazer.

Today I decided to go with a patterned maxi dress.  Maxi dresses and skirts are probably my go-to item this summer, simply because they are so comfy and breezy.  A blazer is the perfect item to throw on top of a dress in the evenings, because it can dress up the outfit a bit if you're headed out to dinner or a night out.

Stay tuned to see what I wear this blazer with tomorrow!

Exploring Utah: Mt. Timpanogos Hike

Last week I went on the hardest hike I've ever done.  Emery and I hiked to the top of Mt. Timpanogos, which is the 2nd highest mountain in Utah's Wasatch Range.  We took the Timpooneke trail, which is 15 miles roundtrip.  It felt like 1500 miles.  I've done this hike twice before, but for some reason this time was the hardest...I think it's because we got started too late and it was really hot that day.  I honestly didn't think I was going to make it and I wanted to give up a couple times, but I'm so glad I had my supportive husband there to help encourage me to keep going!

The best part of our hike was an awesome animal encounter!  Emery was walking in front of me and we came to a curve in the trail. All of the sudden he started backing up and telling me to turn around right away. When Emery had walked around the corner, he found himself directly in front of a big bull moose, who happened to be blocking the trail and staring him down! We were able to climb up onto some rocks, just out of the moose's reach.  The moose watched us for a minute, but he determined that we weren't a threat, so he continued past us and made his way down the trail.

At the top of the mountain we met another animal friend...a mountain goat!  It was definitely a good day for an animal lover like myself!

The Mt. Timpanogos hike has so many gorgeous views.  It was definitely worth the sore legs I had the next couple days.  Pictures can't really do it justice, but here are some photos from our little adventure:

Our next big hike will most likely be at Zion National Park in September...we want to hike Angel's Landing!  I do have a pretty big fear of heights, so I'm a little worried.  Have any of you ever done this hike? I've lived in Utah for 8 years and haven't even been to Zion National Park yet, but I'm super excited to go!
