Just Another Manicure Monday...

It's Monday again...time to paint my finger nails!  Today I used Zoya Kennedy, from the Zoya Feel collection.  I have two other colors from this collection, which I will post pictures of soon.  They are all beautiful neutral colors that I think would work well on any skin tone.  Kennedy is a light nude beige color.  I apologize for the bad polish job...I was painting them at Carl's Jr. while my kids were playing.  Not the most ideal place, but when you are a mom you have to work with the time you have!

What's on your nails today?

Tangerine Tango

Apparently the color of 2012 is a bright orange-red color called "Tangerine Tango". This is according to Pantone, a company that specializes in color matching. To be honest, I had never heard of this company before and I was unaware there was even a color of the year, but I guess it is a big deal in the home design and fashion industries. So, I figured I would find some fun tangerine pieces to show my support for the "color of the year"!

Clockwise from Top Left: Skinny Jeans from TopShop, Sweater from Old Navy, Dress from Old Navy, Shoes from Jessica Simpson, Dress from ModCloth, and Nail Polish from Essie

Do you see yourself wearing the color of the year?

Mustard and Owls

I love mustard. Both the condiment and the color, but especially the color! Unfortunately I don't have a lot of it in my closet and I really need more! I bought this cardigan thing (I'm not really sure what you would call it) at Kohls a couple years ago. The brown shirt is actually from Wal-mart.  Usually I don't find a lot of great clothing there, but here in Utah they have a brand called Bella Bird that makes cute and cheap modest clothes!  I think it is actually made by DownEast Basics, but sold under a different name.  Also, I love this necklace...on the outside is an owl (which I am obsessed with lately) and there is a clock inside that actually works.  I ordered it on Ebay from China and it only cost me around 2 bucks shipped!  It took about a month to get here, but it was worth the wait!

NYC nail polish

Usually I don't like to buy cheap nail polish, because it generally doesn't last as long as the others. However, I was browsing at Target and spotted a New York Color nail enamel that I had to try. It was only a buck, so I figured why not? The color is Broadway Burgundy Frost, although it doesn't look burgundy to me...it definitely looks red. It's very sparkly and I assumed it would be really sheer and that I would have to layer it, but it actually has great coverage and only took two coats to get this effect! I also added a clear topcoat. It has been two days and so far no chips, which I am very surprised by. I may actually have to buy a few more colors, because for the price they are great!

Volunteering

Sorry, we have been missing for the last couple days, but this is what I've been up to:

Photobucket

I was volunteering at the Sundance Film Festival!  It was a fun experience...I even got to meet Robert Redford, who was super nice!  Last night I was able to go see a film premier at the Eccles Theatre in Park City.  It was weird because the stars of the show were sitting in the row right behind me, including Justin Long who I love!  The cast even came up on stage afterward for a Q and A.  I am hoping I will be able to go see another film later this week, but it depends on if I can convince someone to come wait in a freezing cold line with me to get tickets!

Rust

I know that Rust is usually considered a Fall color, but for some reason I am really crazy about it right now.  Maybe it's because I don't even own one piece of clothing this color.  Maybe I should fix that!  Here are a few rusty-orange colored dresses that really caught my eye.

Clockwise starting with top left: Ruche Stunning Sight Dress, Modcloth My Kind of Folk Dress, Modcloth Work of Heart Dress, Victoria's Secret Longsleeve Turtleneck Cable Sweaterdress

Note: The Stunning Sight dress is also at DownEast Basics and the My Kind of Folk dress can also be found at Ruche!

What do you think?

Colored Pants

I am loving the colored pants trend right now!  I personally don't think I can pull off some of the brighter colors, unless I am just wearing bright colored leggings or tights under a dress/skirt.   However, I did find a pair of cute green skinny jeans at Target that I love.  They were on sale for $20, so I had to buy them!

When wearing colored pants I try not to go too crazy with the rest of my outfit, since the color is already going to stand out.  I just wore a plain black long sleeve tee from DownEast Basics and a pair of tall black boots from Kohls.  The leopard scarf I got on clearance at JCPenney.  I can't decide if I really like it with this outfit, but I tried it out because it looks great with my bright blue pants.

Note: I am not a model, nor have I ever claimed to be.

Our first Manicure Monday

Today is what I like to call "Manicure Monday". It is a day dedicated to painting our nails and every week we will share our nail polish choice with you! This week Catherine is super busy, so I am just going to be showing you my nails this time.

This is Excuse Moi from OPI. It is part of the Muppets collection that was released in November and I think it totally screams Miss Piggy! It is hard to really capture the true color of this nail polish, but it is a glittery pink, with some multicolor glitter mixed in. It had great coverage and only required two coats to get the full effect, as well as a clear top coat. What nail polish are you wearing today?

Welcome!

We are so excited to begin this blogging journey and see where it takes us. Our main goal with this blog is to keep our readers informed with beauty product releases and reviews, as well as show how to be fashionable and modest at the same time!

We believe that every woman should feel beautiful. While true beauty lies on the inside, putting on makeup and styling our hair sure can be fun! Some of our favorite beauty products are nail polish, eyeshadow and lipgloss...so you will be sure to see a lot of those products featured on this blog.

It is also fun to dress up, so we will be bringing you ideas to enhance your wardrobe. Why modest fashion, you might ask? For some women it is uncomfortable to wear revealing clothing, for many women it is because of their personal values, and for us it is our religious beliefs. Whatever the reason, we want to help women find a happy medium between the current trends and keeping certain areas covered! Showing more skin or wearing clothing that leaves nothing to the imagination doesn't mean you will be considered more attractive. We have nothing against people who choose to dress this way, we just choose not to. The truth of the matter is that the fashion of today often consists of short hemlines and cleavage-baring tops. However, there are ways to still get a similar look without baring all and we will try to show you.

We hope you will join us on our blogging journey!
