Sunday Style: Stripes Edition

Sunday Style, Fashion Link Up

Ok, you guys...I have never had a harder time trying to pick my favorites than I did today.  I honestly had about 20 tabs open in my browser at one time trying to narrow it down!  You lovely ladies who linked up last week are awesome and I loved ALL of the outfits, but I finally settled on these four stripey ensembles:

Ladies in Navy
The Serena Saga
To the Heights
A Beautiful Heart

I really need to work on adding some stripes to my closet.  They are such a classic pattern and go with EVERYTHING.  I especially love the way the stripes accentuate Serena's cute baby bump!

I've had a couple people ask me if they are supposed to link up an outfit that fits a certain theme.  So, just to clarify....you can link up any outfit you want!  I will go through everyone who linked up and pick out some outfits that I like (which may or may not fit a certain theme, such as "stripes").

I'm so excited to see what you all have to share this week! As always, here are the rules:

1. Add the link to your specific outfit post, not your main blog page.
2. Grab a button and add it to your post (a text link is also fine). Note: if you don't link back to me, I can't feature you!
3. Comment on this post and someone else's post...the whole point is to visit each other.
4. Follow my blog, so you can be reminded to link up next time!

I wanted to dress up for the occasion, so I went with this black and cream lace outfit.  The top and skirt are from The Nest on Main, which is the cutest little boutique in Springville, Utah.  It's located in an old historic building on the town's main street and inside they have so many cute and affordable clothes, as well as great gifts and yummy chocolate (which they were sweet enough to let me try)!  If you are in Utah I highly recommend stopping by sometime, but they also have a website for anyone who is not in the area.

The Nest on Main is giving away a $50 gift card to one lucky reader! The giveaway is open to U.S. readers and will run through July 2nd, 2013.  Make sure to enter using the Rafflecopter widget below and good luck!

Manicure Monday: Tribal Print Nails

aztec nails, tribal, aztec, nails, manicure, mani, nail polish, nail art, tribal mani, beauty blog
Tribal Nails, tribal, aztec, nails, manicure, nail polish, nail art, beauty blog, lacquer

Barielle sent over their "Brilliant Colors" collection for me to try out and I decided to create a fun Aztec inspired manicure!  I've seen Aztec/Tribal nails all over Pinterest and have been itching to try one out.  My version is pretty simple compared to the other more intricate designs I've seen, but I still like it!  I want to try it again using some neon colors with black accents...I think that would look so fun.

Barielle Shades, nail polish, lacquer, brilliant colors,
High Marks Purple, Head of the Class Green, Magna Cum Laude Turquoise, Straight A Coral, Smarty Pants Pink

I'm loving these bright Barielle colors.  My favorites are the purple and turquoise colors!  Have you seen any fun nail art lately?  Any ideas for what I should try next?

Sunday Style: Pretty Skirts

I noticed a lot of great skirts in last week's link-up, so that's what I decided to feature today!  I love the different prints and textures in these outfits:

Lipgloss and Crayons
Jessica Jean
Style Honestly
Bramblewood Fashion

I sure do love a good skirt...especially in the summer!  I'm excited to see what everyone has to share this week...seriously, it makes me really happy that so many of you come here each week and participate.  Thank you SO much for sharing your cute style and helping give a little outfit inspiration!  Even if I'm not able to comment on all of your blogs, I want you to know how much it means to me.

Ok, now show me what you've got! As always, here are the rules:

1. Add the link to your specific outfit post, not your main blog page.

Lilla Rose Review and Giveaway!

My hair isn't really as red as it looks in this pic (although I wish it was), but how fun is this Flexi clip from Lilla Rose?! One of my lovely sponsors, Caroline, is a Lilla Rose consultant and was sweet enough to send me one of their popular Flexi Clips to try out.  When I saw the Dreamcatcher style I knew the turquoise color would make the perfect contrast to my red hair!  I've never been one to put my hair up in a french twist (or any other kind of updo), but I do like to put my hair half up, so I went with a Small and it was just the right size.  It is SO easy to put this clip in (check out the flexi sizing and styling info) and it's so much better for my hair than the usual hair rubberband!

The small was even big enough to secure my daughter's hair in a ponytail, but I prefer the way it looks with the hair just partially up.

Lilla Rose has more to offer than just the flexi clips. They have headbands, bobby pins, hair sticks and more! Today and tomorrow (June 21-22nd) there is a special sale happening: 10% off your entire order, plus free shipping on orders of $30.00 or more. Also, Caroline is running a buy 3 get 1 free special. If you order three items, you can email Caroline and let her know which fourth item you would like for free!

Caroline also has a great giveaway for you lovely readers today!  One lucky winner will receive any Lilla Rose item that is priced at $16 or less.  The giveaway will run through June 27th, 2013 and is open to U.S. readers.  Make sure to enter using the Rafflecopter widget below!

My Favorite Summer Getaway Essentials

 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8 // 9

1. A floppy sun hat is a must have for any summer vacation.  It keeps the sun off of your face and it's perfect for those unwashed hair days!

2. The ideal summer outfit is comfortable and simple...a maxi dress! This ModCloth maxi is a great option, because the stripes give it a nautical feel and the short sleeves add a little more coverage.

3. No one should ever leave for summer vacation without the perfect pair of shades!  These Ray-Ban sunglasses are super stylish (and on sale)!

4. If your vacation involves an itinerary, you will definitely need a nice watch.  Even if you will just be at the beach all day, a watch in a fun color (like this orange Invicta watch from ShopNBC) can spice up your outfit a bit!

5. A large tote is a necessity on ANY vacation. It's so nice to be able to throw everything into a big bag, especially if you are headed to the beach or lake!  I love the fun design on this Vera Bradley tote (she has the cutest styles)!

6. For a great summer lip on the go, I highly recommend the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain.  This is honestly my favorite beauty product right now and I wear them all the time. They didn't send me any to review or anything, I just LOVE them! My favorite color is "Lovesick".

7. Obviously sandals are a must-have, but make sure they are lightweight and comfortable...your feet will thank you!

8. Summer means it's time to get a pedicure...pick out a bright nail polish color and show off those toes! I'm loving the teal Butter London "Slapper".

9. Last, but definitely NOT least, is sunscreen! If you are going to be spending ANY time in the sunshine, make sure to lather on some protection from the harmful ultraviolet rays.  A nice tan now isn't worth the wrinkles and skin cancer later on in life!

What are YOUR summer vacation must-haves?

Pocket Full of Sunshine

Top: Forever 21 (similar), Skirt: c/o Lulu's (similar), Shoes: Kohls (similar here and here), Bag: Big Buddha c/o Lulu's

I've already mentioned how much I'm loving yellow lately, but my new Big Buddha purse from Lulu's has solidified that feeling.  It's like I'm carrying around a little piece of sunshine and I love it!  Yellow actually doesn't go very well with my skin tone, but little pops of the color here and there are totally fine.  What color are you loving lately?

Manicure Monday: Flower Nail Art with Sally Hansen

Today for Manicure Monday, as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias®, I decided to attempt some fun summer nail art! So, I headed on over to my local Walgreens to pick up the necessary supplies...

As soon as I laid eyes on the new Sally Hansen "Fuzzy Coat" polish I knew it would be the perfect texture for grass! I had seen some cute grassy manicures on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to try. The football mani below is one of my favorites, which can be found on The Daily Varnish:

However, I wanted to make my nails more Summer-y, so I figured I better incorporate some pretty flowers and more color!

These are the colors I purchased: Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat in "Fuzzy Fantasy", Insta-Dri in "Blue Away", and a Nail Art Pen in "Hot Pink".

Ok, now here are the steps I took to get my Summer Flower mani:
Step One: Paint a blue base layer (This will be the sky).

Step Two: Apply the green Fuzzy Coat to just the tips of the nails.  This is supposed to be grass, so it doesn't have to be perfect!

Step Three: Use the nail art pen to paint on little petals for the flowers.

Step Four: Use a dotter tool (or a nail art pen) to fill in the center of the flower with yellow or orange polish.

Step Five: Use a skinny nail polish brush or a nail art pen to create the stem and leaves of the flower.  You will want to use a green color.  The color I used was too light, so you will see in the next photo that I painted over it with a darker green.  I also added another layer of the grass.

Step Six: When completely dry, brush over the manicure with a top coat to help it last longer.

So what do you think?  I don't think I'm a great artist, but this was pretty easy to do and I think the texture of the grass makes it more interesting.  I think anyone could recreate this look!

From now until 6/29, Walgreens has a Mix n' Match BOGO 50% off sale on the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri, Fuzzy Coat, Sugar Coat, Nail Art Pens and Xtreme Polishes.  I love finding good nail polish deals!  For more fun nail art ideas, visit Sally Hansen's I Heart My Nail Art page.  You can also see more great ideas posted by Sally Hansen on Facebook, or by searching the hashtag #IHeartMyNailArt.
