Manicure Monday: Flower Nail Art with Sally Hansen

Today for Manicure Monday, as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias®, I decided to attempt some fun summer nail art! So, I headed on over to my local Walgreens to pick up the necessary supplies...

As soon as I laid eyes on the new Sally Hansen "Fuzzy Coat" polish I knew it would be the perfect texture for grass! I had seen some cute grassy manicures on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to try. The football mani below is one of my favorites, which can be found on The Daily Varnish:

However, I wanted to make my nails more Summer-y, so I figured I better incorporate some pretty flowers and more color!

These are the colors I purchased: Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat in "Fuzzy Fantasy", Insta-Dri in "Blue Away", and a Nail Art Pen in "Hot Pink".

Ok, now here are the steps I took to get my Summer Flower mani:
Step One: Paint a blue base layer (This will be the sky).

Step Two: Apply the green Fuzzy Coat to just the tips of the nails.  This is supposed to be grass, so it doesn't have to be perfect!

Step Three: Use the nail art pen to paint on little petals for the flowers.

Step Four: Use a dotter tool (or a nail art pen) to fill in the center of the flower with yellow or orange polish.

Step Five: Use a skinny nail polish brush or a nail art pen to create the stem and leaves of the flower.  You will want to use a green color.  The color I used was too light, so you will see in the next photo that I painted over it with a darker green.  I also added another layer of the grass.

Step Six: When completely dry, brush over the manicure with a top coat to help it last longer.

So what do you think?  I don't think I'm a great artist, but this was pretty easy to do and I think the texture of the grass makes it more interesting.  I think anyone could recreate this look!

From now until 6/29, Walgreens has a Mix n' Match BOGO 50% off sale on the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri, Fuzzy Coat, Sugar Coat, Nail Art Pens and Xtreme Polishes.  I love finding good nail polish deals!  For more fun nail art ideas, visit Sally Hansen's I Heart My Nail Art page.  You can also see more great ideas posted by Sally Hansen on Facebook, or by searching the hashtag #IHeartMyNailArt.
